Your new pump is a great one. I have it, just not in variable spec. It's very quiet and so nice to run while we are in the spa.

Check your electric company and see if they will give you a rebate. Mine does.

usually you have to have had them installed by a local contractor to qualify for the rebate. So, at best, the rebate covers their costs. It's an easyish diy job.

grrrrrrr!!

I have an old adt alarm system in my house that we don't use. The keypad panel in the master bedroom started beeping last night indicating low battery. I don't want to pay $25+ postage for a battery for a system we don't use. I've disconnected the battery in the main unit and pulled the plug on the electrical supply (I didn't even realise the thing was still plugged in). The stupid panel in my bedroom is still beeping.

It's going to take an electrician to get the thing off my wall and take away all the useless paraphernalia. Ideas of what I can do to stop it beeping?

Can't it be unscrewed from the wall, or the cover unscrewed to get inside? If you can't see any way to unscrew it, maybe it just pulls off a back plate, like many thermostats?

And anyway, what sort of battery do they charge $25 for? When part of our security system needed a couple of new button batteries the security company sent me an entire pack of 12 or 15 batteries! .... For no charge, and I didn't even ask for them, it was their tech support that suggested a flat battery might be the cause of the problem.

In all seriousness I'd just remove the external objects, disconnect all the power and leave the wiring in the wall. Then i'd slap some mud over it and call it a job done.

This.

Or hire a burglar.

If you've disconnected the main supply the only thing that can be causing the beeping is the battery. Disconnect that and you should be good.

You can just pull it off the wall mount and unscrew the wires.

I had a similar problem recently.

I seriously am about to take a hammer to the thing.

It's this ancient thing adt safewatch pro 3000

the battery is a big one, and google tells me I can buy it for $13 from somewhere else. I have tried taking it off the wall and it's on pretty solidly. Can't see a back plate.
I have totally disconnected the battery (red and black wires) and disconnected the electrically supply to the main control panel. Which I was kind of hoping would cut off the supply to the beeping unit. Maybe I'll go and look on the circuit breaker?

eta that the downstairs keypad is not beeping. Surely if it was to do with the main unit then that would also beep?

can't find anything on the circuit breaker just for the alarm.

If you don't want to use the system at all, then power it down. To do so, locate the beige transformer near the main panel and remove from wall outlet, if you cannot find the transformer, disconnect the wire from terminal one and tape the end. Also disconnect one wire on battery in the main panel (note: the main panel is not a keypad, it is a metal box in a closet or unfinished space. They key should be on top of the box.)

To remove the key pad, there are two slots either on the top or bottom put screwdriver in slot and gently push to unlock the snaps, it will sorta hinge off in the opposite direction of the slots...if slot on bottom it will hinge off towards the top. Some keypads also have tiny snaps on each side as well. Then you'll see the mounting screws.

:)

I've unplugged the transformer from the main control box.

I'll have another go at locating those snaps.

....

Once you have unplugged the transformer it must be residual charge in the battery that is causing the beep, so you will need to disconnect the system from the battery.

Re: Home and garden projects

oh nnnnooooooo

It carried on beeping. or chirping better describes the awful irritating sound.

I managed to get the keypad off the wall as Pulaski described with the snaps on the bottom. I cut the wires going into it..........

and it still carried on chirping.

Then I remembered the cheapo smoke detector that I had chucked in the bottom of the blanket box because it kept going off when there was nothing wrong and it was the middle of the night and I wanted to go back to sleep rather than change the battery. Blanket box is underneath the panel.

:o

oops. battery changed and chirping stopped. Now to put the other bloody thing back on the wall....

:o:o:o:o:o:o
