I had one socket where the wiring on the outlet wasn't secure and for whatever reason it stopped working. I took the outlet attached the wire and all was fine. Lucky I didn't have a fire.

Also US sockets seem a lot weaker than UK sockets and wear out.

You can buy a circuit tracing tool from harbor freight for $20 which may help.

My crawlspace is 6'6" in some places, almost like having a basement.

There are areas where my crawlspace reaches 10ft, ..... and I need to take a ladder in there to work on plumbing, TV cable, and phone connections.

Circuit breaker detective- might be worth a $20 punt, but i presume there is a break in the circuit somewhere so i am not sure it will transmit back to the breaker. UNless the breaker itself is faulty...

Looks like it needs a trip to the crawl space hope the wife doesn't mind

I recommend tossing in a couple "bug bombs" (mini-aerosols filled with insecticide, with a locking discharge button), a day or two before venturing down there. And also a "head-lamp", a LED torch attached to a headband, of the sort used by cavers.

You can also sometimes use the circuit breaker detective to follow the wiring in the walls until you find the break.

Just another thought if this was at the end of the circuit, maybe the wire has come off the outlet or switch prior to that outlet.

I love those head lamps, not sure how I managed before without one.

Likewise - I have three, and may get more. I usually keep one with my tools, one in my truck, and one in my bedroom closet.

If we go on a road trip I take one as I hate the thought of trying today change a tyre in the dark without one.

During the winter months a headlamp has revolutionized yard work, extending the work day well after sunset. Even in the summer months I can mow until 9.30 or later if I have a headlamp.

I always take a spare flashlight when in the crawl space just in case the batteries fail. One of the failures of lithium batteries is they just stop working instead of slowly getting weaker.

scrubbedexpat099 is an unknown quantity at this point

Doing some additional wiring currently, there are different standards, your local HD should carry both consumer and professional plugs etc, worth getting the better ones.

Also the Pro Breakers.

GCFI's well they just seem to go, seem to have to replace a couple every year.

Bedrooms I go into the Bathroom GCFI and then feed the Bedroom sockets from there, one circuit one bathroom.

I also like separate lighting circuits but not sure how normal it is. Must have 70 ish circuits?

I also do not have any 15 amp power circuits, everything is 20 amp.
