I'm not a fan of gratuitous lack of common courtesy.

To be fair, the OP's writing does convey more than a mild overtone of condescending arrogance. Descending to the same level with reference to "chef de plonge" is hardly appeasing either.

Well if someone spoke to me like that after I had asked a perfectly polite question I might be somewhat aggravated, too.

Being polite costs nothing.

Understood and agreed, though I don't understand what was worse about Rete's answers than the two before!

What on earth are you on about?

Someone came to this forum looking for a personal recommendation for a resource - that is a large part of what BE is here for.

I'm finding your response rather odd, quite honestly, as well as rude.

Very odd, seeing as people come here to ask questions, and how do they know how many are chefs?

Chefs are meant to be eccentric!

There are many "dumb" questions asked here. So what.

FWIW I did C&G 706 1&2, part time while doing my HND in Hotel Management, in the 90s, but I can barely cook an English Breakfast.

At least the OP has his Visa and a job sorted out, right?

Not necessarily the latter it appears. I think, though not sure from his previous posts (which might also explain the CBA responses in this thread), that he might have to wait to get an EAD first?

Did notice this pair of comments though which amused me:
