Hah :D Julia's won the whole thing in real terms, so I don't know why she was snivelling. She's got a course paid for by Gordon, who will no doubt keep in touch with her and offer her a job in one of his/his mates' kitchens at the end of it; whereas Rock or Bonnie will be hoofed out by GVR Resort never to be heard of again when the restaurant dives and they realise they're both rubbish!

I know which "prize" I'd rather have ;)

From the previews I think the one I want to see is where the guy goes after GR and threatens to put him in hospital:blink:

As for Hells Kitchen, it was another predictably drawn out affair and to be honest the right person got it

Well the first two winners seem to be hanging in ok so I wouldn't be so sure about that.

That Michael clip surprised me - last I read about him he was selling kitchen knives, and that wasn't really that long ago. Afaik he never took up the offer of a trip to work in one of GR's London restaurants either. Not sure when he started his own restaurant, what was it called - Tattoo?

Edit: ah, he never owned it, was exec chef at Tatou, but not anymore? It's all a bit murky. I think he's still selling knives ;) http://la.eater.com/archives/2007/06...chael_wray.php

2nd Edit: I guess the prize of "a restaurant" in season 1 was a bit wishy-washy, the 2nd two were both named positions at heavily advertised resorts, seems they get the better deal.

Bit of a fudge there too though - http://la.eater.com/archives/2007/02...y_promises.php -

It was a similar situation for HK2 winner Heather West, who vied for the prize of executive chef at the Red Rock Hotel and Casino. After winning, she was instead offered the job of senior chef, which is a step below sous chef (we think) but far removed from "executive chef," at the Terra Rossa Italian restaurant. Here she's incredibly humbled by it all and appreciates the prize; as far as we know, she's still there (we were at the Red Rock last month). An insider told us that FOX promoted the whole thing incorrectly, but it made the show sound so important.

I still think Julia got the real prize
