There's been a ton of chatter about this on the news recently - but at least here, in LA, I've yet to see one.

We just have the lookie-loo bus crawl-bys, creeping slowly along, gawking at our houses, in breathless anticipation of a fleeting glimpse of a real, live, flesh 'n blood Hollywood Movie emerging from a front door.

And that's intrusion enough, thank you very much!

Coming from the UK, where every square foot has a CCTV camera looking at it, I couldn't care less about drones.

Apart from the possibility of planes flying into them and then landing on my house, that is.

They can monitor my e-mail, my phone conversations, my internet usage, my TV usage and god knows what else.

There is no privacy anymore.

I am not, however, intending to blow anyone up, so it's not something that concerns me especially.

The only objection I have to my phone calls, e-mail, internet, bank account, back yard being monitored is that my life is not interesting and it would be a waste of resources.

It's not a waste of resources though. It's very useful, indeed lucrative, information that can be compiled with similar information from other households to build statistical models indicating all kinds of demographic trends.

I have to admit if i were outside in my pool with my family and one of these things came over and started gawking it would bother me. I have no idea who is watching and if they are going to crash the thing into my property or are casing the place out.
These things can easily cross the line with regards to invasion of privacy. Think google glassholes.
If they were to ban them however i think it would be really hard to enforce.

Apparently the buggers are very difficult to hit and shooting anything up into the sky could land you in a bit of trouble.
Surely pressing the button on some kind of radio jammer and watch the thing fall out the sky would be equally as enjoyable and much more discrete?

Nearly 11 aircraft a day around the country had a laser pointer aimed at them in 2013, an increasingly worrisome trend that has inspired the FBI to offer $10,000 rewards to people who help officials catch laser-shining culprits.

Last month, 23-year-old Charles Mahaffey of Clovis was sentenced to 1 year, 9 months in federal prison for pointing a laser at a sheriff's helicopter in Fresno. He had pleaded guilty and said that he “just can’t help himself from doing stupid things,” according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
