Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas? Sounds weird a bit, saying that. Merry Christmas has become the norm for me.

Last year was my first Christmas at home in 15 years. Went out carol singing, there was snow on the ground, early morning mist in the valleys, steam rising from the rivers. It was fantastic. Reminded me of my childhood Christmases.
Shirt sleeves, waiting for the bus. 5 mins. 10 mins? No bus? Yay! Snow day.

Going home, wool gloves on, nylon parka, jeans and wellies. One hour later, soaking wet jeans, wet gloves, matted with clumps of ice, toes packed in ice like fish on a trawler.

Some wealthy middle class person with, gasp, their own skis!, is scooting down the street. Inside for a cup of tea, and two digestives.

I didn't like this at the time, but it's growing on me, although those rolled R's are pretty egregious.
