Why not let her go as a Vampire, reason being she can wear pretty much pretty safe stuff, but the costume is in the makeup on the face, you can go to town with that, you never go wrong with Zombies and Vampires...

no, not really, she's into being nearly 13 and wishing she was about 26 !!
I'm fighting a losing battle really, but she's still not throwing a fit when I say "you're not wearing that" which is a blessing I suppose. The marketing for these trashy costumes is everywhere
