I think it's great fun and the effort that goes into the costumes, decorations and acting is unbelievable.

I totally agree, the kids love it, and I love seeing all the costumes and how the houses are decorated.
Some of them put a great deal of effort into it.
Mind I am suprised that the kids don't have nightmares for week afterwards.

I used to go trick or treating on the American Air Base in England with my american dad but none of my friends new what I was on about. I love the whole thing of it, all the little kids all excited. They are usually really polite too. I take my 4 year old out too - will not let my 15 year old do it - that just pisses me off! I did not decorate at first cuz it all seemed american cheesy crap but am caught up in it all now. :scared:

My US hubby absolutely loves Halloween so over the years I have gotten just as wrapped up in it. This will be our son's 3rd year dressing up in costume. The first year I made his costume (he was shrek!), the second year we bought it (he was a dragon!). We're still trying to decide on this years.
Last year was great because the weather was perfect and we did meet a lot of our neighbours. We have a really great, friendly neighbourhood too which is great However, our son was too small to eat the candy so after a thorough inspection, we ate it for him!

Rules should be implemented here:
No pumpkins until October 1st.
No turkeys, gourds and the like until November 1st.
No bleeding Christmas crap until December 1st.
I think it should at least be put on the ballet and the upcoming primaries.
