Guaranteed Vacation Time by Country

Re: Guaranteed Vacation Time by Country
It is also entirely normal for there to be zero holiday entitlement in many areas and many jobs.
The rate in which one gets the entitlement also entirely depends on location and type of job. Many places don't provide any benefits for the first 30/60/90 days or even the first year.

It varies greatly profession to profession and there is no legislation requiring employers to provide vacation time.

I suspect in any country holidays are not guaranteed time off or the country would stop working for that day and the crooks would be the only ones to have a holiday. With no police and security guards, the crooks would have a field day, with no medical workers, people would die, with no hotel workers, people wouldn't have any place to stay, with no pilots, stewards, baggage handlers, and control tower personal, airports would shut down, etc.
Other then getting holiday pay on them, they are otherwise useless in my view.

Regarding PTO compared to other countries, the US system has its issues, absolutely... I think there should be a minum set legally.
Nonetheless, compare this system to Italy for example: you do have more pto, of course, but most of it it's chosen and allocated by your employer. For big companies there's a standard two week during Christmas and three weeks in August. Do you wanna go on vacation in March or October because it's cheaper or for whatever reason? Too bad, you can't choose.

Even the furniture mills and fabric mills, which in my neck of the woods provide the $4ittiest jobs to the low-skill/no-skill labour force, give two weeks off each year, though at times of the employers choosing. So it is typically one week at 4th July and one week at Christmas- New Year. I do not know if they are paid for those weeks.

Paid time off hours needs to be earned before they are used here. I can't take my 3 weeks off starting 1st Jan. And i can only carry over 5 days from the previous year. Its all rather anal.
And even if your vacation gets approved it can get cancelled at last minute by senior management if schedules are not working out. Don't forget to pay extra for trip cancellation insurance when you book

Legally guaranteed time off is silly. This is part of any decision to take a job.
I get 37 days of PTO a year + 7 holidays. I work for a famous American company. So there's that.

As much as I decide I require to be honest.
Are we really suggesting that it's somehow a bad thing for some in society to get some guaranteed time off?
Otherwise there would be some who get none.

If I was self employed as a tile layer, I might want to take all the jobs I can get including weekends but if I was the CEO of a company that employed thousands, I'd probably like the time off especially since I could probably use the company jet to take my family on an all expense paid vacation since I could probably fudge the reason for the trip.
