Green Card Approved
I cannot reply to this old thread as it is closed but I wanted to update it to say that my Green Card was recently approved and I now live in the US:

It took a long time and I had to work remotely for my US employer from Canada for 2 years. I appreciate most people would not want to wait that long but I do want to post that it all worked out. I wanted to confirm that if you really want it - which I did - it is possible!

Wonderful news - congratulations! Did you make it to LA or are you somewhere else? How are you settling in?

Yeah, made it to LA. Not been here long but liking it so far. Was living in Vancouver, Canada for 18 months up to now so makes a nice change from Vancouver - side note: think carefully before moving to Vancouver.

What's wrong with Vancouver?
I lived there for a total of 5 years and think it's a great place, great place for exploring, hiking, camping.

Re: Green Card Approved
I actually just posted my thoughts on Vancouver in the Canada thread. I think Vancouver has lots of pros and lots of cons and it suits some people more than others. I def agree that it is great for exploring/hiking/camping. I just found it lacking in other ways esp. nightlife. Depends what you are looking for from a city.

I too feel I might prefer Vancouver over LA--especially now with these dreadful fires! But I suspect you're younger than I am and at a very different stage of life.... Enjoy!
