It is scary. My friend Lisa who passed away from breast cancer at 36 had a type of breast cancer known as Paget's disease which is a rare type of breast cancer. It's often mistaken for excema. There is no lump with this type of breast cancer about half the time. The symptoms usually affect the nipple area and then spread. Her symptoms actually went away (which is common with this unfortunantely) which is why Paget's disease is often misdiagnosed. This type of breast cancer rarely affects someone so young as well. Her Dr. thought it was excema or an infection. By the time she was diagnosed it had already spread and she was in stage 4. If any women has any type of change in her breasts regardless of a lump or not it should be checked out.

As the thread got more and more serious my comment became exponentially embarrassing. My niece just died of breast cancer, so I am well aware of the seriousness of this discussion.

Please forgive me.

I wish you all well XX

Don't worry about, I figured anything with 'girly' in the subject line would get attention by the males on the board

No family history for me, thankfully. The doctor found the lumps both times, I do check sometimes but not near as often as I should
