Applying for so many jobs that are perfect for me. Getting through to a phone interview and lots of people say the situation is too complicated. Im more than qualified for these jobs and are obviously impressing the companies....who give me a chance?!

Lots of people are "more than qualified"... and they don't need a visa. If you want someone to give you a chance, you'll need superior qualifications - "more than" just isn't going to be good enough in the current economy.

Well I have experience too. I get the feeling experience and qualifications arnt the issue, its the risk of hiring someone from abroad. They have to move, adjust to the culture and do all of this asap.

And the fact that an H-1B won't be eligible to start working until October? Are you sure you're approaching this correctly?

I don't think it's as much to do with the person from abroad having adjustment issues....it's more to do with the cost to the company of having to pay for a visa to get someone here, when there are people equally qualified already in the USA with work authorization. Plus, as meauxna said, the wait for a visa to become available to begin work in the first place.

It's frustrating I'm sure, but try and put yourself in the shoes of the prospective employer. There's really no good reason to hire you as opposed to an equally skilled American when hiring you means they would have the added hassle and expense of visa fees, relocation costs and then a wait until you get your visa.

Only kidding, Im sure something will turn up. Im doing a load of voluntary freelance work for people in the US so hopefully that leads to some contacts...or maybe a job through them?

We're not trying to have a go, just being realistic is all:)

Maybe once you make that trip in the summer to visit your girlfriend things will become clearer for you then

Unfortunately, getting a job is the easy part of getting a visa.
