Getting collywobbles

Rather than hijack Emma's thread, I thought I'd start my own.

I go back three weeks from today. It doesn't seem real yet! I did ship some boxes yesterday, but otherwise life goes on just the same. I'm working up until the 15th -- then I have a week off to wrap things up.

The dogs' paperwork went to USDA for certification (hopefully all in order). I'll be having a garage sale right before I leave.

Some days I experience sheer panic -- what the f**k am I doing? Don't have a job or a place to live yet -- though I have family to stay with if I have to. And I should have enough money to get by on for a couple of months . . . Scary though.

Did others of you get cold feet?

Sarah

Now calm down Sarah!! :)

How long have you wanted this? You have somewhere to go if you need to. You have some money.
As you well know, I did what you are doing recently and things have gone very pear shaped due to illness. All i can say is, I am still surviving, still loving being here (believe it or not!!) and always remember, at least in UK there is a welfare safety net unlike some other countries!! I am sure you wont need it, but you have done this once LEAVING UK, now at least you know you are coming home!

Good luck!

That run up to leaving was soooooooooooooo stressful... but coming back to the UK was such a relief. What you're going through is totally normal. It's another massive life change and although it's what you want, it's still scary as hell. We've been back just over three months now and hubs had work within a couple of weeks of us being back as well as us having bought a couple of cars and moved into our current rental. A couple of months on and I managed to get myself a full time job after a couple of weeks of looking... the housing market looks like it's going to be really going in our favour for buying in the next few months and things are moving forwards.

Hugely scary. Massively worth it. The UK is home and home is a lovely place to be.

Get through this stuff and you can do anything, Sarah!

Sarah :)

Thanks, Flea! I just needed someone to hold my hand for a minute and tell me it was all going to be alright.

How're YOU doing? Are you on the road to recovery?

Thanks for the encouraging words, Sarah!

I'm so glad things are going well for you lot. I do have a phone interview tomorrow morning. It would be fantastic if that panned out for me (would mean working in Oxfordshire ), but we'll see . . .

Deep breaths!

I understand as am also going back to the Uk in three weeks after a long time in OZ , nearly every day I have a major panic moment about giving up my job, selling the house, changing schools, friends etc .I do know if I had too much longer to do this I wouldnt it is so huge but I am a counsellor so I know that these major decisions are huge and its normal to have doubts but in the end its what you want and you have to go for it it will be all worth it in the end. I do repeat this to myself daily!!!!!

Thanks for the reassurance. It's comforting to know that it's not just me.

[QUOTE=SarahInTX;6649699]Thanks, Flea! I just needed someone to hold my hand for a minute and tell me it was all going to be alright.

Know exactly how you feel am heading back next year after 22 years away get real OMG momentsmainly about "will we find work?"... Have somewhere to rent already lined up so that is not a problem. Hubby just worried will we survive money wise. Have a bit to take back to see us over quite a few months but with no house to sell here no big capital....(both had past marriages which meant starting again from scratch more or less 6 years ago).
Plus for us is that all our combined kids are living in UK now and well settled there so really no family this side of the pond.
Also we know that once we stop work here we will have to really pull in the reins and we are not big spenders now.......At least back in UK we have family and friends.....
Just needed a little vent there Thanks everyone .....;)

I know exactly how you feel- literally a week before I bought my ticket I was given a new job offer at the university I work at- significant increase in pay, far better working environment, all the bells and whistles I could hope for, but I still said "yes, but its not in the UK, is it?"

so its back to blighty for me (september- woohoo!) but every now and then I do panic and worry about whether I'll find work, if the wife will be happy, am I being selfish in wanting us to move home, etc etc etc...

Whenever I do, though, I always try to think where we'll be this time next year, and just the thought of it calms me down a lot :)

MY thing here is that I agreed to work up to the last week before I leave, and its VERY hard to concentrate on anything (hence me posting this while at the office :) )
