Re: Frivolous things I don't understand
Canola is also called rapeseed.
Cold pressed requires huge pressures but people rave over it like olive oil, not cheap.
The normal stuff is not expensive, is the best for frying because it has a very high burn point, it doesnt oxidise easily. It is natural, and better for you than soya blended/unknown or corn oil. A lot better than the extended life oils used commercially, these are only marginally edible - and often 'pass through' unchanged...
I also use pure peanut oil sometimes, also very good, but always pricey.

Since your comments on engine oil seem to be all about the standards, it's worth pointing out that both US and EU food safety regulators publish maximum acceptable levels for erucic acid in canola oil - at 2% and 5% respectively, these levels are very much less than the typically 40-50% content in rapeseed oil.

Ah but.... never seen a pizza here with bludy pineapple on top, guess that's just one of the US of A's contribution to turning simple food into a gastronomic stuff as much into your mouth as you can feast. As for Starbucks.. abominable "coffee"

But they do put potato on pizza, which I found strange. But probably no stranger than a chip butty.

B) The Hawaiian pizza was apparently first made in Canada

You won't get the gammon, but you can probably find somewhere that can make one with Canadian bacon, which is a passable substitute.

I've tried "Canadian bacon" and it is about like putting chopped leather boot laces on your pizza - strange strips of meat, square in cross-section, and about an inch long.

Maybe they overcooked it, it's always been OK round my way.
