Re: Florida shooting
Has anyone done the "cars kill people too" thing on this thread in the last 30 pages or so? If not, we're overdue.

I don't think Postal Bombs causes much of a problem overall, I doubt that would have been much solace to the residents of Austin in recent weeks, I also doubt it meant the FBI and local police would have put it below other items in the list of current priorities.
There are many "causes" worthy of interest.

Re: Florida shooting
The argument has probably already been had in page 22 or something, but taking the 2A to the extreme, why shouldn't any citizen of the USA be allowed to own a Nuclear Weapon? The wording only mentions Arms, not which type, the right is simply to bear them, any I presume at the time of writing. Well, if the wording is meant to mean as much now as it did then, and weapons have advanced, why not any weapon, or Arms?
After all, a well regulated Militia is determined to mean resourced, trained etc. The Right is provided to ensure the citizens can protect themselves from the Government, who these days have nuclear weapons.
I believe one of the reasons we don't allow Nuclear weapons to be stored in Suburbia are because they are deemed to be pretty dangerous in the wrong hands, notwithstanding the fact that most owners would probably be law abiding and not use them unless provoked. It is clear that Nuclear bombs don't walk down the street and set themselves off.
Clearly this is daft, but the point is we seem unable to have a debate about the wording of something, implying modern meaning or even changing it. Nobody will be killed by someone with a gun if no guns existed, clearly the availability of guns creates a potential risk. Just like adding seat belts to cars, having a debate about limitations seems reasonable to me, and if the belief is that simply cannot happen with the current 2A, why not talk about amending the thing?
And yes, someone should be focused on reducing deaths caused by car accidents as well.

Amazing how many kids, in the millions, are marching today for change. Very impressed with them.
