Flags - Nylon or Polyester?

Ok, I'm having a wee look on Amazon for some outdoor flags, the nylon ones are about $30 and up for a 3x5 and the polyester start from about $1.99

This is a serious business, I need to get it right! Can I go with the cheapskate one? ;)

I got my polyester St. Georges flag from Ebay for .99 i believe. If i remember correctly, Shipping made it like $5. It does the job and I'm going to hang it outside my window on the 4th of July. Where are you going to put it ?

Well actually we have the Welsh flag, the Union Jack, Stars and Stripes hanging up to be joined by the Red Lion and the Ulster flag.

I have an old union jack with a picture of Edward VIII on it, in the middle, that's in a bit of a ropey state.

The only other flag that sees the light of day is this one:

The court gave me a plastic, very clearly labelled (in huge font) 'Made in China' one, at my citizenship ceremony.

My Dad brought one of those back from WWII, that and a bayonet.

Can we get something straight.

Its a Union "flag". Its NOT a Union "Jack" unless it's flying from the jack mast of a Royal Navy ship (hence Union "Jack") and I don't give a shit what Wikipedia says to the contrary.

Why not the Union flag for the 4th?

My OH stocked up on American flags when they were on clearance at Target, I found it hilarious they had to be "reduced to sell", some around at the time didn't find it quite as funny.
