Fish!

Re: Fish!
Fish and chips has to be skate for me - amazing but it's not sustainable so maybe i'll have it once a year (and even then feel guilty over it)
Love sushi and sashimi - can't get enough
Day to day mostly we eat salmon as it's meaty and I can throw lots of chilli and asian flavours at it in a foil bag = easy and tasty. Occasionally i'll get sea bass which is probably my favourite fresh water fish overall. Mackerel is a close run second but the missus is not that keen. Cod/haddock etc is just not that exciting
Squid in any form is ALWAYS a winner but my favourite has to be chinese style with salt and chilli. Octopus is good too as are scallops and mussels.
Actually thinking about it - if it's not nailed down i'll probably have a go at it

Re: Fish!
Haddock and chips or GTFO. Said it before but there seems to be a lot of advocating for the poncifying of fish dishes, which makes me sad.

Re: Fish!
Near us, (Southwest) Cod was what you would get if you just wandered in and ordered "fish an chips", Haddock was what you got if you understood what good fish and chips were and asked for it.

Re: Fish!
Which corner of the north would that be? Because in both my specific experience and general understanding is that Haddock is the "standard fish" in F'n'C in Yorkshire, and I'm from about as far south as it's possible to be while still being a northerner.
How Nutek came to be a fan of haddock with his chips is more of a mystery, unless you and he were accidentally switched at birth?
