What made them think it was ok to set off any sort of firework in such dry conditions? Embers from any fire can travel miles and start off another fire, so it's wise to listen to local news channels for any evacuation orders.

I hope the party organizers get charged. This is pure stupidity.

My step brother and his horses were allowed to return home today. The house is standing, no damage, fire burned right up to their fence though.

So much smoke in Oregon the moment

And a load of power outages to go with the smoke

I know not directly California fire related, but still on the western coast of North America, Washington state has 13 fires currently burning, over 300,000 acres burned alone yesterday, the winds shifted overnight, and our air quality in parts of Southern BC are not so good. We are at 10+ in Kelowna at the moment, air quality rating only goes to 10, once worse than 10, they just say its bad really bad, stay inside.

They most likely will, as far as I can tell fireworks are illegal in the city they were in, so they already were breaking the law it appears just having fireworks.

In 2017 in Arizona a gender reveal stunt also started a fire, 8 million in damage, the person was only charged with a misdemeanor.

We are feeling the effects of the fire in the SF Bay area, the smoke has blotted out the sky giving an surreal orange haze and twilight conditions. A thin layer of ash settled on everything outside.
Feels very apocalyptic.

My g/f (who stayed in CA while I drove to AZ) said this morning was the weirdest of all. She said she got up at 8:45am and it was still dark, and yes, ash was in the air. What's really weird is, the 'air quality' sites and maps don't seem to correlate in terms of smoke ... so either the maps/sensors are wrong, or, whatever phenomenon happened this morning, it wasn't the 'bad' stuff.

Our closest fire is about 10 miles away now. I am not sure when we should start preparing an evacuation plan or if we should leave now. They say there is a fire line that they think should hold

Did you sign up for local alerts? I went to some site and registered. They send text messages I believe regarding evacuation orders, etc.
This was my local setup in CA:

Two photos I took in San Francisco this morning:

Never seen anything like this before, even when hiking in smoke in the Sierra Nevada. And this smoke is from a fire 100 miles to the north!

Re: Fires in California

Those photos of SF, remind me of San Diego in 2003, we looked like that for 1 or 2 weeks when there were several raging fires in the county.

It's crazy bad in the US, and Washington state is getting hit pretty hard as well, a couple fires in WA state on the eastern area are not too far form the border, basically the same climate as southeastern BC, so I wonder sometimes what it making the fires so much worse in Washington this year.

Winds shifted overnight again so all the smoke from Washington state has cleared from my area for now, huge improvement over yesterday, forecast shows we might see smoke again tomorrow though.

You've captured the scene very well.
