12% of the state's population in Oregon has fled their home, that is mind boggling.

Portland is preparing for the worst and preparing for a mass casualty event.

Has Oregon been particularly dry this year?

Firefighters from Guanajuato, Mexico arrive to help fight fires in Southern Oregon. Looks like some bad hombres there.

Yikes, things looked bad yesterday in Seattle, especially low down by the water, looking across the Sound, there was no other side, a big watery white out. But this morning it looks like there is a giant orange trump lighting up the sky. The world is reversed, we now have the blue light lighting up indoors and the orange light outside.

Oh wow!
Bienvenidos a todos (Welcome all)
Guanajuato - a tiny architectural jewel...my favorite town in all of Mexico. I'm surprised and delighted to see this crew

Meanwhile....
We have 28 major wildfires raging through California today,

An additional Orange Menace will descend from the sky on Monday - when America's Climate Change Denier-in-Chief pays a visit to get a "briefing" on the state of the State's infernos.
Can't he just pick up his damned phone instead?
It would reduce AirForce One's carbon footprint (every little bit counts). And keep him out of our face.
Course he doesn't give a $hit about our fires. The caring visit is a "poor man's" replacement for the rally he can't hold because of the Covid crisis his response has generated

Crazy, I know..but news of his visit enrages me.
Which, in turn, makes me realize how visceral my resentment is over what I deem is his direct, personal responsibility for the ever-evolving horror-show
I feel his "visit" to my State is an invasion of my personal space !

YES: "TOTAL AND COMPLETE" !

It gives Trump a chance to remind us that the issue is that forest floors haven't been swept.

Agree about Guanajuato - had a wonderful stay there about 10 years ago.

Is now the time to revisit the Republican walkout to avoid votes on legislation in Oregon?
One vote that never happened as a result of the walkout was legislation on reducing forest fires.

This is turning out to be a useful website for monitoring the smoke situation. It gives hourly updates from your local monitoring station instead of daily updates

It's a beautiful place, and lovely people. I wonder if Trump will say thank you.

A good chunk of the area of Clackamas County that was level 2 has been downgraded to level 1. While 0% contained they have managed to slow the growth considerably on the biggest fire. There are firefighters from 40 States and Canada in the County.

Unfortunately this means air quality will decrease for a few days. Mine has been hazardous since 4 pm yesterday. For you being that little bit closer to the bigger fire it may be worse, but you do have the gorge winds on your side.
