Finding a quiet place
 

Yesterday I'm driving home and all of a sudden I hear and feel this vibration in Frances the purple truck. It's a little scary so I change lanes to pull over and see what's wrong. Well I realize it's the car behind me and it's his music.
He pulls up next to me at the next traffic light and it is so loud that his trunk lid is vibrating with the music.
I am thinking to myself …wow if that hurts my ears imagine what it is doing to them. Well after a couple of more traffic lights I get to my turn off to home. When I get home as I unload the truck I can hear one of those bullet bikes over on the next street and a siren in the distance.
Now I am in my house in the kitchen and I can hear screaming outside …..
The neighbor's children are in the pool.

So now I am thinking to myself where can I go to get some quiet?
Where are those quiet places?
Where do you go to read, study or just to think where it's quiet?

I can think of two places that I have been recently that were quiet.
The Bok Tower and gardens in Lake Wales, FL

So I am wondering…
Is it quiet where you live?
Do you have a place that you can go to have quiet?

When you have kids, there's only one quiet place in the house.....

Having just come to the US after living in Madrid for three years everywhere here seems quiet to me.

Quiet is very important to me. I used to go mad with the traffic noise in London and never got used to it. It is lovely where we are. The main noise is from a neighbour's cockerel, which can be a tad annoying, and assorted leaf-blowers. Can't really see the point of those things.

Cadillac mountain in the bar harbor area...lovely state park, and at the start of the season, it's well quiet, and lovely.

How was Madrid? Nicer than Texas or are you lovin it over in the lone star state?

Our new 5 acres ... peace quiet, birds and the odd deer around but thats it. :)

What about those damn Michigan mosquitos? I swear they sound like helicopters and a swarm can carry off a good size boy...at least when I'm up there!

I loved Madrid but my wife wanted to be closer to her family. The low wages made it easier to leave and, while I love it here, I'm missing Spain terribly of late. I think I'll move back there when I retire (though that's still decades away) though not to Madrid. It's a great place to be a young person but not somewhere where I could see myself living out my twilight years.

None around, the land is high and dry :) good really because i tend to swell with mozzies and black flies.

This is mine. It is 5 mins from where we used to live. Just the noise of the sea and the gulls.

Where's that? Coyote Lakes golf course? :) My quiet place is the back garden by the pool... we have a really nice quiet neighbourhood...just the odd noise of a dog barking or the kids chatting as they walk from the park...it's especially quiet during the day, cos everyone is at work right now, except me :D
