Re: Favourite American foods
When I lived over there, there was a Cinnabon up in Stirling in the Thistles Centre. We would go there whenever we'd go up to visit mil. However, even it couldn't stay in business and it folded up.

I think the only thing I would really would be proper barbecue, the wife being from South Carolina that naturally means mustard based sauce.

The fresh fruit is finally starting to appear, local stuff, not the big wet slop that's carted in from California/Mexico that goes off after a couple days.
An aunt made a raspberry pie that was awesomely good...good job they've got a greenhouse as the prices are still mentally expensive, for a few more weeks at least I'd think.
Can't wait for the blueberries and strawberries to come up

Re: Favourite American foods
My DH is from WV and his sister has made me a dish consisting of a variety of beans and ham in the crock pot left to cook all day, homemade corn bread and wait for it: wilted lettuce
made from
•3 to 4 green onions, and Romain lettuce chopped
•salt and pepper
•Dressing Ingredients:
•2 tablespoons melted bacon drippings
•2 tablespoons vinegar
•1 tablespoon sugar
Heat and pour over the shredded lettuce.
Seriously good stuff that wilted lettuce, I tried to get out of eating it but really enjoyed it once I took the leap. Good country food! Sure is not good for the weight though.

Red Robin = fab!
Strange, as I avoid restaurant chains like the plague, but RR is the very notable exception. From the fact that they'll make any burger a veggie one, the onion ring tower with that chipotle mayonnaise, the great shake stuff for the fries and that fact that (at least round here) the house beer is made by a well-respected microbrewery - what's not to like?
