Re: Extravagance
Holy cow, 30 knots?!?!
I wouldn't want to be close by in a small boat when it's going 30 knots!! Stupidly excessive. Still if you have so much money you physically couldn't waste it away its an easy way of showing you can spend in excess of half a billion dollars without being worried. I wonder how it's financed? :P |
Re: Extravagance
Not necessarily - surely it created jobs? :)

They call it a yacht, but it's about the same size as a light cruiser from WWII and longer than most destroyers of the period.

I used to know someone, a retired naval commander, who used to take these sort of ships out for sea trials, and would also deliver them from one country to another when, say, the owner was in New York and wanted it taking over to the carribean. He was paid for his time, and all necessary air fares, so got a free holiday.

I would think you would need at least a minimum of a dozen people working a ship of that size even to take it out for trials.
