I never knew there was such a thing. I had to look it up and learn something. Nice to know as my name is David.

You know you have to walk around wearing a leek or a daffodil or something like that anyway!

Now I have to look up "leek"!

This is all the site I looked at had to say about leeks, I figured it was some sort of thing like a stalk of celery. Although the "longest leek" competition had me wondering! -

"But we went back to school for a bowl of cawl - or leek broth: the traditional St. David's Day meal. After lunch we danced Welsh dances, sang Welsh folk songs and recited Welsh poems. The highlight of the day was the judging of the longest leek competition, but I never envied the winner because he was cheered on to 'eat some of your leek'. Again, Dewi would have approved, because as you probably remember, he was also a vegetarian"

EDIT: Just did an image search for "leek". I know what those are, I've seen them in the store but never eaten them or, apparently, payed attention to what they were called.

A leek is like an oversized green onion but not so strong. You probably wouldn't eat cock-a leekie then ?

You'll have to tell me what it is before I answer. Is it related to Dick Trickle, the NASCAR driver?

Nothing so exciting - just a scottish name for chicken soup although it does have prunes in it, so you may be moving fast (to the loo)!

Viva Cymru viva!! Forgotten about St.David's day. My Dad's name is David, and was known as Dai to the lads. Been gone 5 years now. I make a lovely Welsh stew and leeks are a necessary ingredient. Just gave me an idea for tonight's grub.
