Re: Drought here
108 where?
77 here in Squamish, BC. We are about 10 degrees above average normal temps for this time of year. Not record breaking today as it was warmer in 1999 on this date, but still not the norm for middle of September.
They get snow in Calgary earlier this week, and up in northern regions of BC, but that is not unusual for either place.

Re: Drought here
It's killing my running, trying to fit in training runs when I can actually go for more than a few miles before being absolutely exhausted.

Re: Drought here
Didn't seem that hot last night? Oh wait, I was in an air conditioned car not stopping! (Damn that 138/18 is boring - I say it every time but it's almost a relief when you hit the lights of Adelanto, and that's really saying something)
Around here I noticed that the stream through a local park had gone quite dramatically from a fairly healthy flow a few weeks ago to absolutely nothing today. I think part of it is mechanically induced but still the water has to come from somewhere. Apparently our water supply comes from groundwater mostly, though goodness knows how far down!

Re: Drought here
My sister lives in East County in San Diego and showed the temp on her car as 103F, and she has no a/c. I have no idea how they live in that area and have no a/c.
We are finally expected to get some rain up this way on Thursday, but then another heat wave for the weekend, can't recall in the last 10 years having this dry of a September or this warm.

It was in the 70's and beautiful in NYC today although we hit the 90's last week which was awful!

A couple of years there then a move to the East Coast. I'm tired of flying to clients in the East and also the longer flight to the UK and Europe.
(Electric bill is @ 300 - 400 per month at the moment. We enjoy a nice 76 degrees inside usually.)

Re: Drought here
That doesn't make me feel quite so bad. Ours was $451.98 last month - but I work at home so can't turn off the A/C during the day. We have a swamp cooler but the outlaws don't like it as it's in their room. I may have to insist.
