Dream job: ‘My 9-to-5 is a US road trip’
I wonder if his dream will last much longer now he has raised his profile a little.
Works in the US for up to 6 months at a time and isn't a US citizen. I assume he managed to get some sort of B visa.

Somebody I new basically lived in the US on a B2, he knew the game would be up when he came to renew it.

Even with a B2 you would have thought someone in US passport control would have queried how he has so much time and money to spend up to 6 months at a time in the US over a 10 year period.

This guy spent a lot more than 6 months in the US every year, convinced he would not get in but managed it.

I wonder if he has any clue that legally he's probably a US tax resident.

I really hope he gets caught now that he has decided to out himself. It's people like this that make it so much harder for other B applicants.

He will find out on hos next entry, not so sure about the tax thing being an actual rather than theoretical issue.

Just another Brit who thinks it's "simples" to up and work remotely in the USA. Oops. Also love how the BBC promotes this kind of stuff... 'closed borders.... oh the humanity.'

Well, given he has managed it for 10 years, even if he never gets let back in I'd say he has managed to "live" in the USA relatively simply. Wasn't there someone in the North East who'd been running a business with a number of employees for 20 odd years without ever having applied for any sort of Visa?

He has been doing it since 2009 so if that was when he got his B next year will be his last

It's funny I read this and thought exactly the same thing; if we did, I wonder how many others thought the same.

I read this story the other day and I didn't see a problem with what he was doing. Which is why I'm not an immigration attorney. Someone who in the US with B1/B2 status can certainly open their computer and "work" remotely for non-US clients. The article does not say he works six months of every year here, only that he works "for up to six months at a time". So, presuming he manages his stays here as not to fall foul of the Substantial Presence Test ( https://www.irs.gov/individuals/inte...-presence-test ) what is he doing illegally. Asking for a friend....
I wonder if his dream will last much longer now he has raised his profile a little.

I did not realize that. So, a friend visiting me cannot legally open his laptop and connect to his work computer back in England, or I guess even check his business email whilst here. That sounds crazy.
