I don't think so. Some people get company cars as a perk of their job, normally they are on 2 year lease agreements. My dad had a company car I always remember him getting a new Ford every 2 years. He always chose a Ford over a Vauxhall.

Most new cars in UK are company vehicles. Not so many buy a brand-new vehicle for their own use !

Do you have a lot of things wrong with your car or something? LOL. You can get points for a bulb out, but I would like to hope most officers in the UK would give you a producer to get the work done. You have 7 days to get a repair and take the paperwork to your local nick to show it's been done. Thankfully, unlike here, the attitude test still exists in the UK.

The most I have ever heard is being told to report to a police station within x days and show that you have had the repair done. Perhaps if you get involved in accident or other "situation" not having working lights could become an issue subject to penalty, but just driving down the road with a light not working, no, I doubt there would be a penalty given for that alone.

What? You're expecting something to be wrong with it soon?

The attitude test? You get stopped for, I dunno, 5mph over the limit or a headlight out, basically a relatively minor offence, the copper walks up to you, your apologetic you pretend to take the officers advice on board, no I definitely won't do it again officer, you will find a lot of cops will let you off with a warning. However, act like an arse, you'll get a ticket. I get the impression from people here, the CHP certainly, will give you the ticket whatever.

Though if you're in ME and have MA/NY/NJ plates and definitely if you're in a BMW, you'll get as many tickets as they can throw at you

I was told off by a police officer in a nearby town, because he knew I was driving over the speed limit, but I was driving too fast for him to get a speed reading, so couldn't issue a ticket. The road had too many ups and downs to maintain sight, and he "lost" me. He found me again after I had already parked and locked the car.
