it was just 4/7/2006 and 5/7/2006 to me (or was it 7/4/2006 and 7/5/2006?)

Also on I-94 forms - always seemed kind of strange, almost like the US admitting that the rest of the world does it this way.

Must be cheaper to do it that way. Think of the thousands of visitors who would otherwise use two forms, having made a mess of the first one.

As for the 4th July vs July 5th, I would hazard a guess, that on 3rd July 1776, people were used to the British use of English. Therefore, the momentous day would have been 4th July. Old habits die hard. Not that old mind, only 230 years.

Next I think we need a thread on how many exactly is one Billion. Is it as us yanks believe- one thousand million (1,000,000,000) or is it more- like all of you Europeans mistakenly believe.

How many is it in Togo btw?

Or what about the age of the earth? It was only designed 6,000 years ago, intelligently of course.

I suppose one could make the argument that the 1st world war began in 1776, since there was fighting across continents, between several nations (or nations to be)...Englanf, France, US, Canada (darn wimps), perhaps even Holland and Spain- as England was fighting them at the same time.
