CSCS Card?

I found out today that my husband would have to apply for a CSCS card to work at most job sites in the UK. He is a self employed, self trained contractor in Canada. How hard is this card to get considering he doesn't have the educational requirements required in the UK. I know my brother has one and he has no formal training.

Re: CSCS Card?

check out their website - http://www.cscs.uk.com/ When I did mine you sat a test (there is a book with all the questions in, all of which were multiple choice when I did mine!) but also had to be sponsored by the employer (but this may be different as there are a lot of different card options). Sorry that's not very helpful but maybe someone else will have more recent info!

Thanks for the response. We have looked at the site prior to posting. For foreign workers it directs you to another site that talks about spending a lot of money to have your skills assessed. I'm trying to see if this is necessary. My brother tells me he had to get a trainee card as he doesn't have the NVQ qualifications either so this is the route he went to bypass that. He is working a lot and highly skilled as is my husband.
