To be picky and we do like being picky this was to obtain a US Passport, you were always a USC.

A US Citizen who does not have the right to pass on their US citizenship to a child will find that once the children enter with an approved visa automatically gain US citizenship. Please do not discount this as it will affect their entire lives. Even those who naturalize in the US after residing here and who have children who are legal permanent residents find that their children 18 and under are automatically US citizens by the parent's naturalization.
