I got my appointment for 10 days time for the first vac (Pfizer). I tried to get one for DH as he has various medical problems, but not 65 yet, so no go, maybe the spring they said. Not looking forward to it, but it has to be done, if we have any chance of travelling to see the grands. Did anyone get the card with their vaccine details on it?

So far so good, though I had a bad reaction to my pneumonia shot about eight hours later. Now I get the second shot on the day I had been going to get the first. I’ll be nervous then as friends have reported not feeling great for a day after their second.
Apparently you shouldn't have any other shot 14 days before or after. So I'm surprised they gave you two different shots the same day. I actually am postponing getting a pneumonia shot until 2 weeks after the date of my second covid shot.

In the latest example of journalists providing irritatingly misleading reporting because they don't understand what the science is actually saying, multiple sources are reporting the Pfizer vaccine offers "2/3rds less protection" against the "South African" variant of the virus. Here's an example from NBC:
https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...ction-n1258198

This is not what the study says at all. The study demonstrated that while antibody production was lower against the "South African" variant (hate calling it that, but whatever), it still offered enough protection. CNN reported the exact same news (more correctly) like this:
https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/17/healt...ant/index.html

This matters because people may look at that NBC headline (or this one from the Guardian: "Pfizer says vaccine offers two thirds less protection against South African variant") and think that the study proved that the Pfizer vaccine isn't effective against the "South African" variant when in fact the study proved the exact opposite.

2nd dose of Moderna scheduled for tomorrow. Curiously, this article used a photo of the vaccination site we used on Jan 21 and will use tomorrow.

I have a card that shows (for each appointment) the date given, the type and the batch number. I think everyone gets that?

Yes. It's not a 'card' so much as a normal vaccination record form with both does dates, location of doses (ie which arm) batch details etc.

I don't intend to carry it since it would be easily destroyed. It's actually still in my desk at work.

Does this restriction just apply to the COVID shot, I wonder? Because when I went to Walgreens for my flu shot, back in October, they recommended I get the pneumonia shot too. I got them at the same time, one in each arm.

Sorry, I'm never clear when I post from my phone! What I was trying to say was that, in the past, I had a bad reaction to a pneumonia shot, which only set in eight hours or so after the actual shot. Thus, the 30 minute wait after the Covid shot didn't mean I was out of the woods and consequently I was nervous as to what might develop by midnight. As it happens, all was well, other than a sore arm (and it also appears to be a diuretic, LOL!). It is specific to the Covid shot that you can't have any other type of shot -- and they definitely cite the flu shot -- within 14 days, before or after.

Thats ok to have both flu and pneumonia vacs on the same day. If you don't, I didn't because they were out of pneumonia vac,it is best to wait a week or so. I waited for 2 weeks to get it.
Another top tip is to get the first pneumonia shot on a separate day anyway in case of adverse reactions. That way you will know it is a reaction from that shot and not flu shot.

Yes, true, knowing what caused possible adverse reactions is a good reason to avoid having two shots the same day. I hadn’t thought of that.

Wife and I got our first shot this morning (Moderna) at a local church. Second shot will be on March 18th. Same time, same place.

I received a text yesterday with a link in it. I was very wary about opening it as, although it looked genuine, just not sure. After research, it looked legit, so clicked the link which took me to a web site to book.

Publix pharmacies have been doing them for a few weeks. Early on, I was told I would qualify due to being diabetic, so booked online. Got a call later saying I didn't qualify as they're only doing over 65's, healthcare workers and "people deemed at extreme risk by a hospital".

Yesterday's text came from the health-care facility, so they must have deemed us at risk.

Anyway, glad to have got it as we've had dozens of positives at my work. No WFH allowed here.

I got a "Covid-19 Vaccination Record Card" with CDC in the top right corner, giving the dates of the 2 doses, the vaccine (Pfizer) lot no, and clinic site.

I think the CDC is requiring these cards so as to record lot numbers in case of clusters of side effects, like occurred with one batch of the Moderna vaccine. Makes you wonder why it isn't all computerized...

I would like at least one dose over no doses. I fall into phase 4, and my age group is estimated to begin receiving their 1st dose in July and 2nd dose in August.

This of course is supply dependent and I am not holding my breath on them meeting their goals, I don't expect it any earlier than July at this point, and wont be surprised if it ends up being pushed back to Aug/Sept for my age group.

We have a bit over 5 million people and only 176,000 have been vaccinated since they started in December and only 26,000 have gotten a 2nd dose. Washington State next door has given 1,201,120 people vaccines, so they are way ahead of us, BC April 1 target is 500,000 vaccinated.

Currently in phase 1 still.
