US Army Fort Campbell KY in 1970. I recall that the pneumatic injectors actually hurt but I didn’t mind because they were not needles.

There was one injection that was by needle. Of course, this was “by the numbers.” Remove shirt and roll up sleeve of tee shirt. Get in line, walk to guy with swab, then step up to guy with the needle. So, one got to watch the people in front of you getting jabbed. Yours truly was getting more and more shakey as I got to swab guy where I fainted. I recall an el-tee with smelling salts then helping me walk to get the needle. (a good officer IMHO).

Since then, I look away when getting a jab and wii recite that story afterwards the uniform response is “all done.”

Yep. Not truly nasty, but I recall seeing guys with a little blood running down the arm.

I guess that's why some get that scar, but most don't?? I don't have one.

We are lucky to have had the guns used on us before Hepatitis B&C became more widespread and before HIV if the cross contamination was truly a problem. I know air driven Dental drills had a similar suck back problem with the coolant spray but was fixed with one way valves.

The vaccine scarring on my arm is a result of a vaccination I had as a small child circa 1940, still vsible today. A smallpox vaccine I believe?
Not a microchip for sure.

AFAIK smallpox and TB vaccines always left a scar. I have one scar from the TB jab. My mum had 3 or was it 4 from the small pox jab.

It looks like this was before/is currently the way the smallpox vaccine is administered before and after injector guns, interesting.

Just had my first Moderna shot at the Hudson County Drive Thru in Jersey City, NJ. Very efficient in and out in about 45 mins including parking up for 15 afterwards. I reckon they're doing about 200 cars an hour there.

It's slightly odd because car ownership is pretty low here (public transport is good), and I don't own a car. However, I rented a Zipcar for $30 for 2 hours which worked very well!

A few hours later nothing to report except the expected soreness of the arm.

That video was interesting. Certainly different than most vaccines, had no idea they dipped in the needle and jabbed 15 times.

I don't have the small pox vaccine, my parents likely do as they were born in 1958.

I was born in 1950 and was never vaccinated for smallpox.

The mention of TB reminds me that TB vaccination was not used in the US. The fight against TB was via testing. I recall that TB vaccination would make the tuberculin test useless.

No TB vaccine for me either. I don't think the TB vaccine is widely used in Canada either.

Growing up a TB test was an annual thing usually in late summer just before school, but I have never had one as an adult.

Maybe my parents were not vaccinated against small pox, I just figured they were as it hadn't been eradicated yet on the global scale in 1958 but looks like the last outbreak in the US was in 1949 so its very possible I guess by the late 50's/early 60's it was no longer considered needed.
