Kim Crawford usually runs $16-20 a bottle around here. I like Nobilo as a solid white in the $10 range. Don't discount the Wine Cube brand at Target. It's cheap but decent, well the Shiraz/Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc at least. That's not just me saying it, they usually get high ratings from the fancy wine magazines!

Read something faintly off-putting today about two buck chuck from TJ which is normally my day to day plonk. I think it was in the huffington post or something. Basically the gist was that the wine is produced on poor quality land with even poorer quality control, picking methods, leading to dead animals and bugs landing up in your wine. More protein can't be bad I say, cheers!

How do you think they sell it for $2? You can't seriously have thought it was good quality

Grand Marnier for me.

I've recently discovered grapefruit shandy...rather nice on a hot summers day.

TJ also does a sweet dessert wine in a long skinny bottle for about $6. It tastes very raisiny but is quite good especially for the price. I don't know if it has any dead animals in it, but as a former barmaid and occasional scrumpy drinker I know better than to inquire too closely about that sort of thing.

Closer to $4 here in the northeast. You'd have thought they could make it locally, save the shipping costs. Local tap water plus some ingredients off the shelf in Home Depot...?

Wasn't really complaining, hence my description of it as plonk

Crikey, that should go in the wiki on cost of living.

It's weird really, because the TJ house red is a frog wine for $5...though they've got a few half decent $6 bottles too and so do Wegmans.

That Carlo Rossi....I'm intrigued...it's $12 a bottle for the cheapest....which can't be good, but on the other hand, it's a gallon glass jug and that's much cheaper than buying a glass carboy for brewing, so I'm almost tempted.

Then again, I've got two carboys fermenting as it is and the missus might not be too impressed if I wanted to get another on the go
