US troops on the ground in Pakistan, just outside Islamabad, kill Osama Bin Laden in a firefight.

Can't believe the w@nker on Fox News who has just said regardless of what may happen in the future and what retribution Al Queda seeks it will be worth it for today. Hope he doesn't live to regret those words.

Really is it going to make any difference anyway? There will be plenty of people wanting to take his place and trying to prove they are worthy

I doubt Osama did anything in Al-Qaeda recently, maybe nothing much for years.

This action is more of a statement.

In the grand scheme of things probably not but I am sure it is making some family members (9/11) a little happier.

There was some discussion that it might have been Gaddafi.

Excellent news, I think I would have preferred Gaddafi.

Wonder why you consider the killing of who became a rather irrelivant figure in the grand picture of it all a success?

Unless of course the making of a new Martyr is considered success?

Nothing will change with his passing, apart from some mighty angry Pakastanis, and not forgetting the creation of a Martyr.

If it was US troops in Abbotabad, 50 km from the capital, and I assume that they will not have confided in ISI (as OBL was still there) then the real story will be the fall out over this between US and Pakistan governments and their future co-operation regarding Afghanistan.
