Christmas Bonuses?
I'm sat here wondering if I'll get a Christmas bonus this year. I think it's pretty unlikely as I've only worked here 3 months and it's a small software company (3 staff, 2 of which are the owners) but was wondering if Christmas bonuses are the norm here or not. This is my first job in the US and back in the UK I worked for the MoD so even the idea of a Christmas bonus was laughable so not getting one won't put me out, though I wouldn't say no to one either

my OH started working about 3 weeks ago in her new job. She got a bonus last week
I've not had one from mine since the time I've been here. Guess it just depends on the company

There is no norm. It often depends on the sector. I have some friends in finance who have six digit bonuses. I have others who are getting a fruit basket and a cheesy office party.

Mind, you are likely to get a turkey at Thanksgiving (provided you don't already work for one).

No bonus here...though we are having a x-mas party this evening...free booze, I suppose that counts...oh and we got let out early yesterday, seeing as it snowed like a mother plucker.

We have multiple options on our company scheme I opted for 3 QTR payments of 20% of it then 40% at Crimbo

We had our Christmas 'do' today. We all got a $50 gifts.com gift voucher, which you have to redeem, well, for a gift voucher of your choice (actually not your choice, but from a list of choices)
We held a 'white elephant' or 'yankee swap' and I bagged a $25 BestBuy gift card (shame I couldn't redeem by gifts.com card for a BestBuy one
).
My last job was a very very small company and we all got $1,000.

We don't have a Christmas bonus per se, but our company bonus is given out in December every year. It's about 5% of one's salary - so not bad.

I never have gotten one from my company, my wife's new job does give them but only ofter you've been there a year so she missed out this year. She was told it is an "extra" paycheck, which would be nice. It would go a long ways toward covering Christmas.
