Christmas 2011 Megathread
It's that time of year again, so merry Christmas everyone. What's on everyone's Christmas wishlist this year? Are you putting up a tree or Christmas lights? And in general what are you doing this year for Christmas?

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy Holidays!!!! (In a few short months ive become American )
Off back to Blighty for Xmas- with DH - first time in 3 years we have flown together across the pond.
My mum isnt well in UK (hence my frequent back and forth trips) and his dad isnt well in LA 800 miles away from us hence our frequent back and forth trips!!
What I wish apart from peace on earth and all that? Better health for my mum and his dad, an opportunity to settle into married life without running back and forth (or flying as the case may be), something which will melt away at least one dress size overnight, decent bread in US which doesnt cos as much as a small car...and a diamond ring. (well you did say wish list)

Merry Christmas
We're going on vacation to Colorado. My kids grew up in Michigan and now we live in Texas, so they miss the snow (note that I said "they" miss the snow) I'll be finding a nice fireside and taking some good books with me to read.
Hope y'all have a cool Yule

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to all!
We actually do not celebrate Christmas .. instead of spending money at this time of year we sock all excess funds in savings & retirement accounts, as we do every other month. So, mea culpa, we are contributing to the double dip recession etc.
However, nine days off work is nine days off work! So in that sense it is a special time for us. The kids are coming home from Massachusetts and England. We are hoping to go to the Big City for First Night.. Burlington, VT!!

Happy Christmas. Given I'm such a miserable cnut the rest of the year it is probably rather surprising that I actually enjoy Christmas, but even a bastard has a break once a year.
On my wishlist is a Hammond XK-3, Leslie Speaker, a mixing desk and a drum kit, but in reality I'd just like a new lens and flash for the camera, Gran Turismo 4, lots of sweets, perhaps a chance to actually enjoy a drop or two of wine and enough days off work to enjoy my presents.
We haven't got it up yet but the tree should go up over the weekend if the baby allows us five minutes of peace to do it. We have a quiet day itself, everyone comes over for dinner on Christmas Eve (which I'd prefer was done in someone else's house, but that would mean one of my in-laws actually being sensible with their money and/or buying a proper sized house that wasn't in the ****ing ghetto ...)
So for the season I shall be consuming for lots of food, actually calling it Christmas and **** anyone who doesn't like it, and wishing that everyone who has annoyed me this year gets struck down with knob rot or some hideously disfiguring skin disease.
Ho, ho bloody ho ...

Re: Christmas 2011 Megathread
In our household we've a longstanding tradition the kids started that they get to choose someone/something to be at the top of the xmas tree. In years past we've had Scooby-Doo, Mowgli, some pop band from Korea, Noddy & Big Ears - they did well holding the current record of 3 years on the bounce and last year it was Costas Mandylor?? from the Saw movies.
This year it'll be Clay Matthews from the Green Bay Packers, courtesy of my daughter. The boy wanted Bar Refaeli but that was voted down as sexist!!!
Anyone else got similar traditions?
