I heard her speak on TV over the weekend, didn't understand one damn word she said, how the hell were Americans supposed to understand her?

Re: Cheryl Cole dumped from US X Factor due to Geordie accent
My husband recently visited his Geordie Dad, apparently the Dad was pontificating that, "You can tell the less well-educated people because they say 'Aye'." "But Dad, you say 'Aye'."
"Aye".
"Aye".

A few are from New Jersey. The rest are from small towns in New York, Staten Island and Rhode Island. Snookie isn't even Italian. She was born in Chile. I looked up the bios. I watched it out of curiosity. It's really pathetic.
Beleive it or not there is a British version that just came out called Geordie Shore

There are a lot of Italian Chileans in Chile..of predominantly or total Italian heritage and actually account for about 2.5 million people out of a total population of perhaps 16 million, roughly 15%. Chile, unlike Peru, is actually quite diverse, ethnically speaking. So she could be Italian...but either way, she is a waste of space and a disgrace.

I've watched a few USA shows with Italo- Americans and they all say "we're loud, we're noisy, we argue. We're Italians."
Most of the 'real' Italians I know are not like that at all.

Yeah, if they were 'real' Italians they'd be diving to the ground every time a French defender came within 15 feet of them

Outside of the NYC area and Jersey, not so much. But, being Italian American, I can assure you that some are very much so. I think it is more the big city Americanization and an attitude that does it as opposed to being ethnically Italian. Sort of like striving for an ethnic superiority in a vastly multi ethnic area like NYC and then falsely using your ethnicity to justify being boorish. It's embarrassing, actually. Italians in my family were not like that at all. Argue like hell, yes.
