Dammit now I want fried chicken. For a Phoenix recommendation, I would go with LoLo's Chicken and Waffles. Nice catfish there too.

It's the southern style of frying. You take the piece of chicken and dip it in batter (often a buttermilk based batter) and deep fry it. But instead of "chicken fried chicken" it's "chicken fried steak".

Well that's how it was usually offered in the various places I tried it.
I suppose the nearest place to me that does it is Crackerbarrel, but our local one isn't that local and it wasn't nearly as nice as the one we tried in PA...but it is cheap and quick.

When eating out: lightly basted, just to see if they know what it means. Some do, some don't.

I like my cackleberries fried and then inserted into a sandwich with bacon.
