Burger wars
 

Ever been on a bus when someone next to you or across from you starts eating a beef burger? The smell and in-your-face eating somehow feels so uncomfortable. But sitting down inside McDonald's or Burger King -> that's fine. We can be surrounded by folks chowing down on Big Whoppers or Big Macs or Wendy's square burgers and fries ... but on a bus ... it's awful. Just y is that? Y is it OK in one place, and totally revolting in another place. The only equivalent I can think of is someone chowing down on an aroma fueled burger in an elevator. People can sip on coffee, but a burger? No way please. Hell, I rather they were drawing for dear life on a cigarette and puffing like a chimney stack.

Anyone feel the same way?

I can't understand the people who use the drive through, then pull into the car park and eat in the car ? ...... Why just sit there and make a mess and a smell ? ... If you are not going to keep on the move or take the stuff home, why not sit in the place and make the mess ?

I think it's cleaner in my car than at a table in Mickey D's. They wipe all the tables with a dirty rag and smear a film of old food around... Yuck!

No - someone eating a burger in front of me isn't slowly killing me but cigarette smoke is, and the smell of smoke is just vile!

I've lost count of the number of times I've been to a fast food place, gone in and got what I needed and come out to see the same cars waiting to use the drivethru. I think Bill Bryson summed it up best, "Americans will put up with any inconvenience for the sake of convenience".

That's the thing. The same as hovering around the parking space closest to the store to save walking 3 paces further, same concept. It all comes back to laziness (we just had another thread about this recently), why should I get out of my car and walk inside when , if I wait long enough, someone will bring it to me! :rolleyes:

When I was in the states last year I noticed a drive thru cash machine....
I'm not lazy, but I thought this was a great idea, especially if you have kids in the back of the car. Means you dont need to find a parking space and get them all out of the car for the 10 seconds it takes to get some cash out. I very rarely use a drive-thru McDonald's though. If I am bothering to go there i would rather sit inside and leave my wrappers inside than in my car or house. :)

yeah, but half the time, it's still quicker to put into the bank than the drive through...unless your in an SUV *lol*

A few weeks ago we were on an early morning flight from JFK to Oakland, California.

I had an aisle seat and just across from me there was a young man eating a large burger for breakfast which he'd bought just before boarding the plane. The smell was so strong I almost threw up.... :mad:
