brown sauce and Simple shampoo

My apologies if this question has been asked a million times already.

Is there any product I can buy here in the states that is similar to brown sauce? Have you actually seen real brown sauce for sale in any US supermarkets?

Also... I used Simple shampoo and conditioner in the UK (Boots also had their own brand of fragrance-free), it was easy to find, available everywhere, reasonably priced. I can't find anything similar here, dye and fragrance free, that doesn't cost a bomb. Have you seen any Simple-like products here at a decent price?

Thankyou!!!

I have only seen Daddies and the like in specialist British stores. Have you tried A1? I am not an aficionado, so don't really know if it is up to snuff.

Cost plus World Market has the sauce.
Never heard of the shampoo, we use Suave from WalMart, cheap as chips.

Somebody told me that HP had been on sale in the local supermarket but after much head-scratching a shelf label was found but I've never seen the actual product in there. You can get in in British stores or from Amazon. The Cost Plus varies, ours seems to have given up on British stock.

I'm afraid I also don't know of any fragrance-free stuff like 'Simple'.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

My local Publix has HP sauce. I bought it for my husband and he says that although it is in the same package (the blue label with houses of parliament) it is NOT the same. He says that there is a clear difference in the sauce consistency. The US package has a sauce the consistency of Lea & Perrins whereas the UK one has a sauce that is very thick and slower pouring.

I think the brand Finesse is coming out with fragrance-free shampoos, but they are not available everywhere yet. HTH!

HP is on sale everywhere around here, even the other flavours...but best prices are on Amazon.

Shampoo, I use the stuff from Trader Joes, it's nice, it's cheap...but there's plenty of cheap bland stuff in Target, Walmart etc. Fructis isn't bad value for money though.

I refuse to purchase HP sauce anymore. Tesco's own brand or Branston only for me following the closure of the factory in Aston* and production move to Holland.

Heinz you bastards

I nick all my shampoo from hotels, and all my brown sauce in Wetherspoons during trips back to the UK.

Thank you everyone!!
I'll have a look on Amazon for brown sauce. I've never used A-1 sauce so I don't know if it's similar or not, I think Heinz 57 would be too tangy/sweet.
As for the shampoo, I didn't think dye-free/fragrance-free would be so hard to find. I'll have a look at Trader Joe's and keep googling.
I could ask my SIL to send me a care package but the high price of postage prevents me from doing so.

Amazon also have the Simple shampoo so you might want to get it from there. :)

Fresh and Easy stock it Sally, I'm guessing Cost Plus has stopped in the area as it can't compete on price.

Maybe look in the kids/baby shampoo too if you really need it to be fragrance/dye free.

I can help on the brown sauce front.

Lea and Perrins Steak Sauce.

Its thick like HP Sauce and has that rich taste that HP has as well. It is a lot nicer that the A1 sauce I had been resigned to using.

I have found HP difficult to find cheap, here in NW Virginia. $10 for a bottle! :(

A1 contains High Fructose Corn Syrup, steer well clear, and it tastes shit. HP is easy to get depending on where you are, a lot of Irish stores carry it.
