Is spotted dick considered a snack food? It's not really the sort of thing you sneak into the cinema in your handbag is it?

Do you fancy a bag of crisps?
Nah but can you bring me over a can of spotted dick.

Other than that

It's a chewy 'taffy' type thing, I seem to remember it has little chips of sherbert stuff in in.

They could have had real snacks - Roast Beef and Mustard flavour crisps, Prawn crackers, M&S flapjacks, onion bhajis.

I found the Americans had better pithy comments.

"I see it's microwaveable, in case you need spotted dick in a hurry."
"I like wine and I like candy, but they are two different things."

The English mumbled and if they said anything funny, it was much too dry and diffident.

I found the Americans annoying.

Like it.

I chuckled at the Americans responses...especially the wine gums.

I didn't think of any of them as snacks though...more like candy/treats...although I think you could count on my thumbs the number I had actually tried more than once from either list.....

They should have used some chocolate or a UK snickers bar, then they would have really tasted the difference.
