Default Brexit from a British-expat-in-America's point of view

Will you guys be sad not to have "European Union" written on your Uk passport after Brexit? Will you miss not having unrestricted travel to European states?

"Sad"? I never asked to have "European Onion" imprinted on my passport!

Those would be the least of my worries. The way I see it, if the British electorate votes brexit, Europe and Britain will definitely be in uncharted, hell- in-a-handbasket territory.

It's not happened yet and maybe won't at all.

That will make a huge difference to my life not having unrestricted travel to Europe. Just what every Oregonian yearns for, not. There we again again only people in the Non EU queue at Manchester with our US passports the other week. Why the **** do I need one with EU on it.

Without taking a position for or against, it does seem like some longer-term travel, residency, and related privileges would be more restricted if the UK leaves the EU. Some privileges may be retained by negotiation, but none of that is certain at this point, is it? However, I agree that ordinary tourist travel is unlikely to be impacted.

More to be concerned about than just words written on a passport. Things like the unforeseen financial and economic impact, how it will affect the stock markets worldwide, the political ramifications for continued European unity even the future of NATO.

I should be "alright Jack" When I visit the UK or Europe on my US passport the US dollar will be worth about six times the value of the Pound or the Euro and I'll be strutting around like Lord Muck

Not particularly. My ideal scenario would be that the UK would leave the EU and rejoin EFTA and go with the EEA/Switzerland option thus enjoying the economic benefits of the single market, including Freedom of Movement, without having to continue with the EU political project, the Common Agricultural/Fisheries Policy, the ECJ, etc.. We should have never signed the Maastricht Treaty.

In deed, and turfing the Spanish fleet out of British territorial waters and restoring the British fishing fleet could be one of the biggest short-term boosts to British employment and exports post Brexit.

Yeah, but then the UK would actually need a navy again. As a Navy brat, I have a poster somewhere of the Royal Navy in the late 70s, and it's now a shadow of its former self.

Bookies odds say it is not going to happen. I think they are more reliable than the polls.

Probably right. They have motivation for sure. And the polls seem about even with a bunch of undecided. Undecided usually side with 'no change' when push comes to shove.
