Brand new key, song from 1971
#1

So out of the blue today, Mrs jkeller makes a reference to this song while we're driving home. I remember this from my youth, but hadn't thought of it since Nixon was the President. Back then I thought it was about roller skates. But now....I don't think she's singing about skate keys LOL.

I'd forgotten this cute song.
Here's one explanation of the 'key'

Melanie has always been one of my absolute favorite singers. Her version of 'Ruby Tuesday' is something I can listen to over and over and over.
I also found this on You Tube not long ago; beautiful song, never heard it until I saw it on YT:

Another take on that ...
In the mid seventies there was a cover version by the West Country bumpkin group The Wurzels ... yes, a piece of straw hanging out of the side of the mouth and all ! ... It was called I’ve got a brand new combine harvester.
You would be welcome to sing along ....I’ve got a brand new combine harvester and I’ll give you the key, I’ve got twenty acres and you’ve got forty three !!!
Have fun with that one !!
