All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside. No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Just as the Second Amendment, in 1791, was not intended to encompass automatic weapons. Why does Trump see one as sacrosanct, the other able to be changed with a swipe of his pen?

Must admit I do not know anybody who has an Automatic Weapon, but I have met people who have given birth in the US and whose child is therefore a USC. I Did not know Trump sees Automatic Weapons as sacrosanct. Must have missed that.

The civilian ownership of automatic weapons in the United States is not ‘sacrosanct’. They have been regulated since 1934.

I think it is apparent that was referring to Trump's attitude to changing amendments and constitutional law, not what the item in question refers to.

Have you forgotten that Trump offered a path to citizenship for up to 1.8 million Dreamers back in January ... that is anti-immigration??

With the US constitution it's very often not what it says, but how the Supreme Court interprets it. This is going to be one of those matters. Native Americans weren't US citizens until the 1920's.

American Samoans still aren't citizens, they're US nationals. In 2015 The Supreme Court had a ruling that the 14th amendment doesn't apply to overseas territories.

I'm a British citizen because I was a military brat born in Mildenhall before 1983. Neither of my parents are British nor do I have any connection to the UK, other than being born there. There is really no reason I should have British citizenship.
