Best Chinese curry sauce in the US??
As puerile and unimportant as this thread may seem, I'm getting quite desperate for some take away / chip shop curry sauce.
Last time I went home I brought some back with me from my favorite Chinese supermarket in Brum, but that's long been eaten.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
I've purchased this a couple of times, and it's fine but not like the yellow stuff:

Thanks!

The Japanese do seem to take this style curry seriously.

Re: Best Chinese curry sauce in the US??
I've never been a massive fan of curry sauce as such, but what I have noted is that the very basic curry sauce seems pretty similar. Oil in a pan, add curry powder, sizzle for a minute or two, add a tin of coconut milk. Coconut cream instead of coconut milk if it's too runny, or half of each. One could probably add garlic and minced onion (white/yellow) for a bit more depth. The amount of curry powder really does depend on your tastes but maybe 2-3 teaspoons to one tin (484ml ish) of coconut milk might be about right - it's been a while since I made anything like that.
No idea what unpronouncable ingredients make it into chip shop curry though.

I tried that S&B stuff a while back as I too miss the good old chinese curry. It's good stuff, but it doesn't really compensate for the stuff you find back home unfortunately.

I have regular shipments of Bisto Chip Shop Curry Sauce Granules sent over. Not the finest quality but are exactly as described. Quick, simple and great with chips. Available on Amazon too.
