The nerdwallet list is a good reference. I found that Citibank used to charge about 1% on the spot rate. I am assuming the exchange rates used by banks varies?

Looking at that list TD Bank seems to be the best for no fees, if you take out large sums. I see that Ally bank fairs well. I think Ally bank gets good reviews.

I agree petitefrancaise, my son is travelling too so the zero atm fees is a real advantage. I too was worried that they may hit you with a poor exchange rate though. The other attraction is the high interest rate for low balance. I am thinking about opening as a second bank account just for these two benefits.
