Bank holiday homesick moment
Haven't felt homesick in quite a while but I SO wanted to be with all my friends in the pub garden. Damn you Facebook pictures!

My husband said this morning, "I bet the new people on BE will be homesick today."

I went and had bangers and mash with onions and gravy washed down with a pint of Old Speckled Hen at a pub on Saturday. Horse Brass Pub

Got family coming for a visit on the 29th April for a week so that'll sort me out.
First time they've been since I've been out here (3yrs).
A few days LA touristy stuff then a few days in Vegas

When I was an expat I didn't suffer from homesickness - but whenever friends/family popped over for a visit - I always found their departures made me feel a sense of yearning...a longing sadness.
Now that I've cheered you up with this downer.....(sorry )

Yeah, I worked too. That was part of my problem.
The instant connectivity of todays social media has its up and down sides. Years ago I would have been oblivious to what everyone was up to back home.
I more than make up for it during the winter months

They used to have more English beers than they do now. It is the nearest I've found to a British pub in this part of the States.

Just one question:
Why do Americans say "prior" instead of "before". I have noticed this when watching American series on TV. Also they say "two times" instead of "twice".
Having a good but wet Bank Holiday in Devon, England.
