Default bank account for LPRs

I've been mulling over what to do about teenage son's bank account. He's 18 and off to EU for college.

I came across this account and it looks ideal for him - with him being outside the country and no fees for atms. He'll obviously have a Dutch bank account when he starts college but in the meantime and for emergencies, this looks just the ticket...his current WF account will incur charges if he doesn't use it each month so I'll be closing that one anyway.

you must be a citizen or LPR with a 10 yr green card.

Can anyone see any downsides to this?

Maybe check into Simple as well. They don't charge any fees and I use them.

I have never used ATM's in Europe just Canada and while some of the Canadian banks charge an ATM fee, Simple charges $0 and some credit unions charge nothing as well, so not difficult to avoid ATM's fees once you know where to go.

I have been using Simple for about a year now, no issues so far. I chose them for 3 reasons, one no fees, no minimum balance required, and they had a simple account opening process.
