As are the rest of the pics on the thread... Fall (I prefer the original English term) and Winter are my favorite seasons.

[QUOTE=Steerpike;8006463]I grew up in UK calling it 'Autumn' and only heard 'Fall' here - are you saying Fall is the original English term? [QUOTE]
Yup, another case of a word that had come into use in England and due to the immigration to our shores in the 17th century, the word came over and stayed over, :) according to wiki- "During the 17th century, English immigration to the colonies in North America was at its peak, and the new settlers took their language with them. While the term fall gradually became obsolescent in Britain, it became the more common term in North America, where autumn is nonetheless preferred in scientific and often in literary contexts." |

I always called it Autumn in England. But to remember which way the clocks went we said 'Spring Forward, Fall Back' |

I only learned that phrase after I had moved here, comes in very handy though.

Here in Phoenix, it is 75 degrees right now at 19% humidity. All week it has been hovering in the 80s daytime, equally low humidity. Nighttime lows in the 60s. It is absolutely 'perfect' weather (and greatly appreciated after 3 months of 100+F days). I haven't run the A/C for a week or two. Everyone here tells me it stays pretty much like this now until next May/June. The streets of Scottsdale are filling up with out-of-state cars as the snowbirds fly (drive!) in from the northern states ... I'm looking forward to 9 months of the best weather on earth ...! And I thought California had good weather! You just have to figure a way to escape the heat of July/Aug/Sept ... (though I'll still take the 100+ at 15% humidity here vs. 80+ at 90% humidity back east!! - in the shade, 100+ with ultra-low humidity is not bad) |
