Anyone know where I can buy authentic UK number plates from? The ones over here are all dodgy aluminium ones. I dont mind paying shipping.

Thanks,.

LOL  In FL we dont use front plates. Hence I want a UK plate for my front bumper. In anycase I ordered at proplates we will see if they send it or not. They have taken my money though!

I am laughing at myself I always thought they had to be goverment manufactured and of a certain size etc......live and learn, but saying that I bought a VW Rabbit in Sarasota a few years ago and had HARVEY1 as the front plate but that was back in the 90's :) and I shipped the car to the UK.

I had to buy mine from the UK, and have it shipped over here, and then I put it on my front plate, got stopped by the bill and was told there is a big fine in California, for breaking the law blah blah blah.

Well, the place I placed my order has not contacted me yet and the fund are still in "pending" status. I think they will not be shipping it. They charged me in total 16 UKP. I doubt this would even cover the costs of shipping right?

Not using/requiring front plates does not necessarily mean you can put 'anything' there - I doubt you could put, for example, an out of state US plate there. I suppose a UK plate is 'odd' enough that it wouldn't be an issue. I guess you could have it say "I'm Lost" or something ... :)

Just a quick 'beware' for you - I don't know about Florida, but Nevada state law says that although you do not have to have a front number plate, if you DO have a plate holder, it must hold a state issued plate.

My friend found this out the hard way when she was pulled over in my vehicle, which had a Union Jack flag plate on the front!

Check out these guys based in Seattle, http://www.europeanplates.com/europe...sthree2006.htm
$23.95 or $27.95 a plate doesnt sound too bad,
I tried having my old car plate made up by Halfords in the UK recently but without V5C registration documents they refused, saying that there was too much 'cloning' of cars to get around the traffic cameras and “bilkings” (taking fuel and driving off without paying) that they were not able to make licence plates unless I could prove I was the registered owner of the vehicle

I should count myself fortunate then, I just got a warning about it. Got home and took it off.
