I thought I'd just throw this out there and get your views on whether "asshat" is a reasonable substitute for twat, now that I've been informed that "twat" is unforgivably rude over here.
While I'm at it, I've been told by a US grammatician I was just chatting to online that Bloody and F**k are two examples of a rare grammar construct. They're not a prefix or a suffix - they're an "INFIX" because they can be inserted into the middle of a word for emphasis:
e.g. Abso-bloody-lutely and Monu-f**king-mental

If you want to stay sounding British and eccentric, I've found adding random words to "cobbler" does very well, and has the desired effect whilst remaining within the confines of non-offensive.
ie - mince-cobbler, wally-cobbler, screen-cobbler (for those employees who have a tendency to surf the web all day, usage "look you little screen-cobbler, if I get another log with a porn site on it, you'll have to resort to performing on those sites to earn your bread and butter")
